Educating the Mind, Expanding the Heart

As a Catholic school, it is our responsibility to assist parents in the faith formation of their children, giving them the knowledge and understanding of the Catholic faith that is the necessary foundation to allow them to experience a personal relationship with our loving and gracious God. Students at St. Joseph Catholic School experience a rich spiritual life through instruction in religion class, as well as through many extra-curricular service projects. Religion is not an add-on to the curriculum, but rather it is woven throughout all classes and incorporated into all areas of the school day. Through basic instruction in the Catholic faith, serving others, and forming a personal relationship with our gracious God our students begin to understand what it means to be an integral part of a greater spiritual community.

Events that strengthen our faith and reinforce our commitment of service to others, include:

†    Daily prayer to begin and end our day
†    Weekly Mass
†    Service Projects
†    Eighth grade Commissioning Mass
†    Monthly Faith in Action Awards

Our middle school students have the opportunity to serve on Spiritual Council for an entire school year. They meet once a week before school to plan spiritual activities and assist with weekly Mass planning. The Middle School Students also participate in retreats throughout the year. Our Home and School Association also has a Spiritual Life Committee staffed with parent volunteers who help coordinate student retreats, a school Prayer Chain, bible study for parents, and much more.
