The Secretary of Education, John B. King, Jr. recognized St. Joseph Catholic School as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence for 2016.  This is the second time that the school has been recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence.  The school was recognized as an “Exemplary High Performing School”, which means that our students scored within the top 15% of all schools within the nation in English and math.  We are a school of EXCELLENCE!

In order to apply for this award, the school submitted data from our Iowa Assessments testing to demonstrate the high achievement of the students. But the school also submitted a narrative application which documented the steps we take to ensure that we continually drive the educational content of the school in order to help our students make these terrific gains in their achievement. Questions which detailed what we do each year, what new programs we offer, and how we involve the entire school community all painted a picture of excellence to the Blue Ribbon Committee. So while the first step in the process is to document excellence in achievement, the second step ensures excellence in everything we do here at St. Joseph Catholic School. What an amazing accomplishment and what an outstanding testament to the school community!
