Educating the Mind, Expanding the Heart

Welcome to the St. Joseph Catholic School website!

“Educating the mind, Expanding the heart”- it is the motto of St. Joseph Catholic School and it is woven throughout the fabric of the school. For over 63 years, St. Joseph Catholic School has been providing a quality education to students. We hold high expectations for our students, and they consistently meet those expectations. In 2003, the United States Department of Education recognized St. Joseph Catholic School as a No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. The hallmarks for this award are excellence in teaching, curriculum and student achievement – in order to qualify for the award students had to score in the top 10% of the nation on their standardized testing. Our students continue to achieve after they leave us. When we use the words educating the mind, we strive to instill in our students not only a sense of the importance of education, but also the importance of life-long education and the attainable goals that are within their grasp.

At the heart of our school is our religion. Students are taught to develop a personal relationship with our God through textbooks, the Bible, retreats, sacramental preparation, and the weekly school Mass. In addition, our students are called upon to live their faith through service to others. Catholic Charities of Atlanta and the Hispanic community of St. Joseph Parish are organizations which have received help from the students of the school this past year. These service projects allow our students to contribute their time and talent, and to learn first hand how they can make a difference in the lives of others. Expanding the heart is also part of our motto, but more importantly, it is woven throughout the lives of our students.

“Educating the mind, Expanding the heart” – we are a school where we embrace our Catholic identity, and are steeped in a long history of educational excellence. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about St. Joseph Catholic School.
