               St. Joseph Catholic School
               Celebrating 50 Years!
                        1953-2003

The 50th Anniversary Celebration held on Saturday, October 11th was a great time by all!  Alumni, past and present parents and teachers were there to help celebrate this special event.  We had a taste of the past with a slide show and a room full of pictures that chronicled the history of SJCS from it inception in 1953, to present.  As always, Triple J’s served us a delicious dinner and the Society Express Band played great music that rocked Marist Hall!   It meant so much to us to see our Alumni, past parents, and former teachers there!  Your presence made this evening great and showed us just how special SJCS is!  Below are some e-mails that I wanted to share with you from former teachers and classmates.
Huge thanks and high five, Maureen O'Reilly.

A note from Maureen Kane:
Please thank everyone for me – it was wonderful to see so many former students and visit with them.  I was also thrilled to have the chance to visit with former and current teachers!  Hopefully the photos will turn out – there were many being snapped – and will appear in the next newsletter!

A note from Sister Ann Brotherton (one of the first teachers at SJCS):
You were in my thoughts and prayers during the Anniversary weekend.  I hope it went well – and expect it did!  I remember many of the students you mentioned by name in your letter.  Bonnie Boothe was a beautiful young brunette whom I can still see.  Terry Wilkinson’s mother was a special friend to us in our days of settling in.  All the folks there were so wonderful and so welcoming as we pioneered together.  I have shared your news with Sister Sarah McManon (Sister Marguerite) and we did some more reminiscing together over the phone.  May St. Joseph’s School continue to grow, to thrive, and to be blessed in its vital mission to our young people.

“It was truly a night to remember.  I was so thrilled to have the opportunity to meet and talk with former classmates and see Maureen Kane (my 8th grade teacher).  It seems the years were kind to us all.  It was nice to hear all the success stories (a tribute to SJCS) and to share photos of now and then.  I am so very glad I came and am very proud to be a part of SJCS’s legacy.”  Robin Bainbridge ‘77

“I had the BEST TIME – It was so nice to reflect on what a GREAT group of people we went to school with during that time.  I would like to get their e-mail addresses - I can’t image waiting another 25+ yrs to see these people again.”  Monica (Orr) LaScala ‘77

What a truly SPECIAL evening last Saturday was for all of us Alumni.  To reconnect - in person -  with people, who left our lives so long ago when we were only children, is nothing less than a spiritual experience.  What a mind trip the entire event was!  How fabulous it was to circle back and close up loops with old unfinished business, to find out where we are now and what we’re doing, and to hear about each other’s families.”  Barrie Maguire ‘77

“Just a short note to tell you how much I enjoyed last night's festivities. Bonnie, Anne, and I had a blast, and so did Ginger. She found the Rooney's and so did I.”  Terry (Pawlik) Wilkinson ‘58
